Enderby, East Midlands LE19 2BN

I found this place to be strange and a bit of a hazard, mostly because parts are just covered in broken bricks and stone, making it difficult to walk over and don't feel it a place where you can sit and enjoy the silence.

The story of Ratby Meadows goes back to the 14th Century and John of Gaunt, son of Edward III. I understand the parcel of land was given to the residents of Ratby, (hence the name), by John following a visit to Leicester. Despite the fact they are actually located in Enderby. The meadows are tucked away behind Leicestershire Police HQ, and various other properties. Access is via Ratby Meadows Lane. There are no facilities here, but a short walk away is the local garden centre, food and drink available. The River Soar runs alongside the meadows before it joins with the Grand Union Canal.
